Vegetarian Shoes

Millions of people around the world have chosen, for their own reasons, to eat a meat-free diet. Many of these include this in all of their lives and avoid animal products completely. Reasons for turning veggie include:-

Welfare of Animals - Appx 2,000,000 animals are killed every day in the UK alone for food production

It's Healthy - A well-balanced vegetarian diet can be very good for you.

More Sustainable - Feeding animals grains and pulses is much less efficient than eating them ourselves. Around 18% of the greenhouse gasses are believed to come from the livestock industry

Cost - becoming a vegetarian can reduce your food costs

According to a survey by the Vegetarian> , around 6% of people in the United Kingdom are vegetarian. The shoe industry is a major user of animal-derived products, with leather being used in many styles of shoes and boots. Finding vegetarian shoes is now much simpler than it used to be with many retailers showcasing brands that have an animal-free range.

Most retailers have seen a high increase in demand for vegetarian shoes - as consumers become more aware of the methods used to produce meat, the fashion industry is also coming under scrutiny more than ever before With recent high profile campaigns such as Paul McCartney's 'Meat Free Monday', consumers are looking at all aspects of their lives and purchasing habits.

A long-term favourite vegetarian shoe has been the classic Converse All Star baseball boot - the shoes canvas top and rubber sole is made without using any leather at all. Some other brands such as Terra Plana and Patagonia have built their entire range on vegetarian> and eco-friendly production. The internet has seen a rise in retailers offering just shoes for vegetarians, so choosing shoes free from animal products has never been more simple.
